1. FSA Disclaimer

Some FSA plans may require pre-approval of your standing desk purchase, so you should contact your plan administrator for more information on how to acquire appropriate documentation. You may need to request a “letter of medical necessity” from your doctor recommending a FlexiSpot Sit-Stand Desk Converter to treat your specific back pain condition and submit that to your HSA/FSA plan administrator. This letter informs your plan administrator that the Sit-Stand Desk Converter or Height-Adjustable Standing Desk is intended for medical purposes rather than personal use. Keep a careful record of all documentation including the approval to purchase the Sit-Stand Desk Converter or Height-Adjustable Standing Desk from your plan administrator.

FlexiSpot is not responsible for approving or verifying the prescription for your purchase and assumes no responsibility in the event of an audit or penalty for an unauthorized medical expense. This material has been prepared for informational purposes only, and is not intended to provide, and should not be relied on for, tax, legal, medical or accounting advice.

At Flexispot.com, all of our sit-stand desk converters and height-adjustable standing desks require an FSA-eligible prescription from your doctor. If you purchased a standing desk and failed to provide your FSA provider with a prescription dated before the time of your order, we cannot consider it a properly-filed claim. If this is the case, and you’d like a refund, you can return the product via our normal return process.

2. Questions customers frequently ask include:

How do I use FSA to Purchase a Sit-Stand Desk at FlexiSpot.com?

Under the flexible spending account, ergonomic items are eligible with a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). Since these items are designed to help reduce physical stress or relieve the pain of an existing injury, like back pain associated with spinal problems, your doctor or chiropractor can provide a Letter of Medical Necessity.

What are the steps of purchasing my standing desk (using FSA-eligible with prescription)?

1. Choose the appropriate standing desk at Flexispot.com. Know that an LMN will be required, so ensure you are looking for the best desk to satisfy your medical condition.

2. Approach your primary care physician or chiropractor about obtaining a Letter of Medical Necessity. This will be important when submitting a claim to your plan provider.

3. Purchase the desk directly from Flexispot.com.

-Select the standing desk and add it to the online shopping cart.

-Proceed to Checkout.

-Fill in your shipping info. If you are in the contiguous 48 states, shipping is free.

-Create your secure account and fill in your personal data, shipping address, and billing information. FlexiSpot accepts all major credit cards as well as PayPal. If qualified, you can select the financing option.

-Place Order.

4. After payment, it’s time to get reimbursed.

-You will need your receipt from FlexiSpot and your LMN from your doctor.

-You may also need an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from the insurance company. This will show that your purchase was not covered by your insurance.

-You will need a claim form to fill out. You may have some from your welcome packet when you signed up for your FSA, otherwise your plan administrator should have some. You can always visit the website of your FSA provider to obtain claim forms.

-Complete the claim form and submit it along with all the required paperwork to the address on the claim form.

NOTE: Reimbursement methods vary. Some FSA administrators allow online submission while others have only mail-in options. You may receive a check in the mail or direct deposit depending on how your account is set up. Reimbursement occurs generally within 10-14 days.

You may also be eligible to be reimbursed mileage for your doctor visits.

Can I use my flexible spending account debit card to purchase a FlexiSpot Standing desk?

FlexiSpot doesn't support FSA credit card payment. Currently you would need to purchase your standing desk out of pocket, then submit a claim for reimbursement from your FSA administrator.

-Important note: Even when you use your FSA card, save all receipts. This is important should the eligibility of your purchase ever come into question.

What are other FSA-eligible products I can buy?

Reach out to your FSA administrator to further assist you with this matter. The contact number should be on the back of your FSA card. Some services are also FSA-eligible, such as acupuncture and chiropractor service.

How is a FlexiSpot Standing Desk good for your health?

The nation’s leading health experts agree that sitting too long at your desk is not only bad for your waistline, it’s harmful to your overall health. Several studies have linked a sedentary lifestyle to brain damage and an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, diabetes, and even premature death. To counteract the unwanted side effects of sedentary living, experts recommend alternating between sitting and standing several times throughout the day.
